It's All Greek To Me

Alpha Chi Omega.
To some these words and letters mean nothing.
To me, however, they mean a lot.
After transferring to THE University of Alabama, I was alone. I knew no one on campus and had no connections to anything or anyone. Going through rush seemed like the best option for me to find people who valued the same things I value and who wanted to share their college years with me. Some people say joining a sorority is just paying to have friends, to them I say WHO CARES! The girls I have met in Alpha Chi have become some of my best friends and are people I know I could turn to with any problem. They are my resource guide, my study buddy, my lunch date and my good time. Without these girls in my life, my college years would be meaningless and boring.

I am proud to be a member of a Greek organization at Alabama. So what if we follow the same trends, most of them make sense. I mean if it is raining outside and you do not want your feet to get wet what do you wear? RAIN BOOTS. And have you ever worn an over sized t-shirt and Nike shorts? They are the most comfortable things EVER, so don't dog on us cause we are comfy and you decided to wear tight jeans and heels. I do not understand why some people on this campus, students and teachers alike, make fun of Greeks. We hold ourselves to high standards. We have the highest GPAs, we vote in important elections on campus and we know how to have a good time all the while.

So I leave you with this inspiring quote about us Alpha Chi's:

Today we salute you miss Alpha Chi Omega sister. Not only do you have looks, brains, and glamour, you have the class to back it up. Sure, frat boys may talk to other ladies now and again, but don't worry - their only dream is to date an Alpha Chi. With those pearls and that Alpha Chi Omega sparkle in your eye, you are every guy's dream and every girl's envy. You can party like a professional, yet still keep that frat-tastic class. If you're dating an Alpha Chi, raise your hand. If you're not, then raise your standards. Then crack open an ice cold strawberry lemonade you sexy Alpha Chi, and remember: There's only one way to go... and that's A-Chi-O.

Love y'all!
Kelly

Sweet Sixteen and Another Year Wiser

Almost six years ago I was sixteen, a sophomore in high school, and I got my drivers license. Six years seems like such a short time, yet in those six years, I have learned more than I could have ever imagined. It is crazy to think my baby sister is now going through some of the same things I went through, getting her license, stupid high school girl drama, fawning over boys, obsessing over everything and trying to pass math.

My prayer for her is that she will take the lessons she is learning through these tough high school years and use them to become a better person. My parents say I am more protective of Lindsey then they are. I say I know what she is going through and I do not want her to have to go through some of the hard things I went through at her age. I know I can not protect her from everything and I need to trust that God will teach and guard her heart, but I am still worried about her! Thankfully we have two amazing godly parents to help us through all of our trials and with their examples we can learn how to live a life pleasing to God.

Ok enough deep stuff! Lu had an awesome party Saturday with thirteen of her friends from school. Daddy cooked out some hamburgers and hot dogs and I made my famous hash brown casserole and frozen daiquiris and pina coladas(virgin of course). Mom ran around like a chicken with her head cut off making sure everyone was comfortable and having a good time!

Our family friend Olga made an AMAZING chocolate and peanut butter cake complete with a car and Lu on top! It was so cute and so good! After eating they all piled into an Escalade limo and went cosmic bowling! They were so impressed when Mr. T(the awesome limo driver) pulled into the McDonald's drive-thru and we got enough french fries to feed an army! Overall it was a great party and everyone had a blast! Hopefully this will be a Sweet Sixteen to remember!

Here are a few pictures from the party!

Hello World...

This is me!

Ok, I am joining the blogging world!

I have been interested in advancing my technological side for a while and I thought this would be a great place to start!

Being a communications major, I want to be on the up and up of things so I am diving into blogging! Hopefully my posts won't bore you to death and will be fun and interesting to read!

So, this first post will be short and sweet and to the point:

I know it sounds cheesy but I love the phrase "Take life one step at a time." I don't know who said it or where it came from, but I love it none the less. I am comforted in knowing that my God controls my future and that my life is in His hands. I don't have to freak out over my mistakes or question what the future holds because I have faith in the One Who knows, sees and controls all things. No matter what comes my way I just take it all one step at a time and let His Will guide my path.

I am going home for the weekend for my little Lulu's 16th birthday! Crazy I know! So I will have some fun pictures to share with y'all soon!

Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
