Remedies For A Broken Heart

Everyone has had a failed relationship.
From family to lovers to best friends,
there is always the inevitable "break-up".

Sad but true
sometimes relationships just aren't meant to be.
God places people in your life for a reason
and many times you can't see why until
you find a way to heal your broken heart.

This is one of my favorite quotes,
I don't know who said it but I love it none the less:

If your life was like a painting, the strokes that are being added to the canvas today may not make much sense when viewed alone.
However, God doesn't waste any strokes when He uses His divine brush,
for He sees the final picture and knows exactly how each stroke will fit into the painting's finished image.
You may think the color being used today is too gray and needs more brilliance, but the time will come when you see that the painting would not be complete,
and the meaning of the painting would be weakened,
if the gray strokes were not included in the exact places they appear.

So the next time you are looking for something
to ease the pain of a relationship, job interview, test
or anything else that might not have gone as you planned,
remember that God knows what He's doing
and always has your
best interests in mind!

P.S. Our Heavenly Father suffered the ultimate broken heart when He sent His only Son
to be beaten and hung on a cross to pardon our sins...
and let's be honest,
that is a HUGE burden.
I know how much I sin daily
and to multiply that by millions is mind blowing!

Praise God for His ultimate sacrifice and the grace He has bestowed upon us today!

Have a blessed weekend!

Don't Judge A Book By It's Cover

My mother always told me that you never know
what is going on in other people's lives
and to give people the benefit of the doubt.

After being in customer service for so long,
I have come to realize that you cannot assume anything
about anybody.

Everyone is at different stages in their lives
and going through a variety of situations.

Not judging people is hard sometimes.
I admit I am not perfect
and I am as guilty as the next person when it comes
to assuming things about a person.

Here in the South we are used to seeing a person judged by the color of their skin.
It is sad to me to see that there is still discrimination in the United States.
I do believe however that this judgement goes in every direction
and affects every race and gender.

There is neither Jew nor Greek,
there is neither slave nor free,
there is no male and female,
for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Galatians 3:28

Today's lesson:
Love your neighbor as yourself
and
don't judge a person til you walk a mile in their shoes.
*I know this sounds cheesy and way too generic,
but it's true and familiar!

So remember the next time you want to presume
something about anyone,
think twice because they may be judging you as well!

Season of Love

Wedding Season is fast approaching
and us single gals are starting to feel the heat!

I attended my first bridal shower last Saturday,
it was beautiful and a lot of fun I must admit.
She got some practical gifts for her new home
and her everyday dishes were super cute!

With one high school friend engaged
and my room mate aka best friend for life
about to get a ring on it,
I can't help but think about all the single ladies!

So it is time once again to visit our friends,
The Resentful Singlette
and
The B***H.
The Resentful Singlette
Miss Pity Party is less than thrilled to even think about someone else getting married.
A proposal is far from her future
and she cannot get over the fact that
she does not have a man.
The only joy this girl will get out of a wedding,
is searching for a single cute groomsman.
Hopefully she will eventually find that perfect someone
but until she does, she will just be unhappy for no reason.

The B***H
Friends, food and fun?
Where do I sign up?
This attitude of I will celebrate with you now
and you can celebrate with me later
is the B***H's way of dealing with wedding season.
Not only are weddings a great place to meet guys,
but who doesn't love an open bar, tons to eat and dancing all night
for free?
Yes, she may not be celebrating for a while,
but the B***H rests in the fact that it will happen
when it is supposed to happen.
Just like Mama said,
you can't hurry love.
So be happy for your friend or family member!
And remember
no one likes a party pooper!

Happy Tuesday!

Growing Up Is Hard To Do

As kids we have no responsibilities.
As teens we can't except responsibility
and as college students we avoid responsibility.

Oh to be a high school senior again!

The reality of the real world can make or break people.
Making the right decisions are not easy
and sometimes making the wrong ones are way too easy.

My parents tried, I say tried because I mess up all the time, to instill in me
the importance of making right decisions.
I wish I was perfect, but I'm a human
and I mess up...a lot.
I'm not great at learning from my mistakes
and it is something I must work on every day.

Thankfully I have a forgiving and loving God.

I have decided to keep a private journal to keep myself accountable
and learn from my mistakes.

Growing up and accepting the responsibility of adult life
is hard to do,
but with the guidence of my parents
and God's Hand
I know I can conquer this weakness
and become the kind of adult I know I should be.

Sorry for the deep post,
but I'm just trying to keep it real!

LOVE!

A True Southern Belle

Many people think that since I grew up in Florida,
I am not a true Alabamian.
That could not be farther from the truth!
My family tree has roots so grounded in Alabama it is rediculous!
Both my parents grew up in this great state,
as did their parents and so on.

Not only does my heritage scream Alabama,
but my upbringing does as well.

I was always taught to use my manners,
say yes mam and no sir,
how to make sweet tea,
to follow God's Will,
and to cheer on the Alabama Crimson Tide!

Over the years,
I have come to realize that I may be more Southern than half of the girls who grew up here!
There is nothing I love more
than BBQ, sweet tea, banana pudding, football at any level, sun dresses
and a southern drawl.
I am proud to say that I am from Alabama
and just because I was born and mostly raised in Florida
does not mean I cannot claim Alabama as home!

I can honestly say I will more than likely never move out of this great state
(unless that is God's plan of course)
and I will always display my southern roots!

American by birth
Southern by the grace of God

Have an good week y'all!

Bed Bugs and Sweet Dreams

Let me just tell you how amazing it felt to sleep in my own bed again last night!
IT WAS AMAZING!

In the Peacock household,
comfy beds are a must and we take our bedding very seriously!
Growing up I had a twin size bed in my room.
Small? Yes.
Comfy? Oh yea!
I had an awesome pillow top mattress with soft t-shirt sheets
a thick comforter, down comforter and loads of pillows!

I used to dream about how good my bed felt when I was sitting in first period
trying to stay awake to the drone of my teacher!
After a year in the dorm with another twin bed
(don't worry Mom got me a 3 inch thick memory foam topper to make it super plush)
I moved on up...big time!
Mom had been wanting to get rid of our guest bed so she could use my room
as her office...I know right I move out and she changes my room!

Anywho,
since my twin bed from high school had been moved to our cabin in the woods
....again loving and thoughtful I know,
she decided I could have the KING size guest bed!
Oh my goodness!
It is SSSOOOO comfy!
It has a pillow top on it and I got the softest organic sheets
and a new organic comforter that is perfect year round!
I kept my twin size down comforter for winter and Mom gave me
a blanket last Christmas that I swear feels like a cloud!

My cozy, comfy, relaxing, amazing bed!
And Missy!
Of course I got some more pillows, it's a huge bed,
and my Cabage Patch Doll, Abby, and Big Al
have their own spot next to me!

I love rainy days when I get to curl up in all my blankets and pillow with a good book
or movie!
I tend to do everything in my bed
study, eat, read, blog etc...
so it has to be cozy and relaxing!

Missy loves my bed too!
I'm sure she is happy it is big enough for both of us
and she doesn't have to stay on the floor all the time,
although she does love the tile in my bathroom a lot!

So hopefully you have a comfy bed you just want to stay curled up in all the time!
Oh and that you always have sweet dreams!

One In A Million

After a fabulous and much needed trip home,
I began thinking how awesome my God is!
I know I harp on how blessed I am and how amazing God's work is
but I just can't get away from how in awe I am of His grace and love for me!

Even if I screw things up so bad I can't see a way out...
what do you know?
God has a solution that is beyond anything I could ever imagine!

Mom and I went for a walk with our puppies
(Maddie is almost 4 and she is still our puppy and Missy is a puppy)
down at the bluffs in Daphne.
It was a beautiful day and I so enjoyed God's beautiful creations!
My mother always has the best insight and encouraging words for me.
She knows exactly what to say and when to say it!
I love the relationship we have where I know she will be completely honest at all times!

My family is defiantly one in a million and I could not ask for anyone better!
I am totally not a numbers person
and so my Daddy helped me with my taxes
which by the way are super confusing for no apparent reason!
My Lu went to her first Prom Saturday night and she looked stunning as usual!
It is so much to watch her grow up and like I always say,
she is becoming a beautiful and godly young lady!

Dinner for Mama and Daddy's 20th Anniversary almost 5 years ago!

I love my family and hopefully one day
my children will say the same about our family!

Praise God for His Omnipotent hand in my life!

Another beautiful day after some heavy storms
thank God for it!

As We Go On

The other day as I was cleaning up the stuffing from another toy Missy tore apart,
I came across some papers from when I was in 8th grade.
My school was K-12
and we celebrated the move to high school with a ceremony.
The entire 8th grade class answered the question:
Where will you be in ten years?
Well I am about 5 months away from the reality of these dreams.
Mine read:
Graduated from FSU with a degree in Education, traveling the world and engaged to the man of my dreams.

East Hill Grads and Sorority Sisters!

SO obiviously that is not what I am doing
and not in my future anytime soon!

This reminds me of my favorite verse
Proverbs 19:21
Many are the plans of the human heart
but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.

It's funny how God works huh?
Although I would love to travel and be engaged,
I am comforted by the fact that God is in control
and has the perfect plan for my life (even if I have something else in mind).

I am excited to see what the Lord has in store for my life
and I am thankful for the doors He has opened and closed through out the years!

Enjoying a short visit home to see the family with Little Miss!
Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Sugar Rush

Today I realized that I just might eat too many cupcakes!
Although in my job that might not be a bad thing!
Usually I just try a bite so I can honestly tell customers what the flavors taste like,
since we just introduced our spring/summer menu I have been trying more than normal!

But yesterday afternoon,
one of my fellow Gigi's emplyees asked me about my training for a half-marathon
I am planning to complete in November...
and lets just say it was a real wake-up call.
SO
No more cupcakes for Kelly!

I really want to complete this goal of running a half marathon,
so I am giving up sweets til November!
I know that is a long time...
but I think maybe one off day a week or every two weeks
would be ok!

Please help me stay on track!
I'm excited to see what I can accomplish when I set my mind to it!
AH!
