It has taken me almost a week to muster up the courage
I need in order to write this.
This past week has been difficult.
On Wednesday April 27 a massive tornado hit
Tuscaloosa.
Never in my life have I experienced anything like this.
What I saw outside my window.
Severe weather is nothing to play around with in this part of the country.
I had been watching James Spann,
our amazing weatherman in the Birmingham/Tuscaloosa area,
when he began talking about a possible tornado heading towards my city.
With so many tornadoes forming I decided to be on the safe side
and prepare for the worst.
Well thank God I did because an F-4 tornado was about to hit a block away from my apartment.
Sweet little Miss didn't know what was going on,
and had to potty.
So I peeked out the window to see what it looked like
and there right across the parking lot was the biggest funnel cloud I have ever seen!
I grabbed Missy and jumped into my pillow filled bathtub.
Debris hit my window and the pressure in the air changed dramatically.
I prayed out loud that God would protect me
and He definitely had His hand over me!
The public housing that was destroyed a block from my apartment complex.
The tornado created a destructive path two blocks from my apartment complex.
This area was mainly low income families so the devastation was phenominal.
Hundreds of people lost their homes including a large amount of students.
One of my friends lost everything but thankfully is alive.
My friends trucks that were thrown into their house.
With the death toll rising everyday,
my heart breaks even more.
After gathering some of my things I made the trip down to Daphne.
Missy and I are taking refuge here for a while.
God is showing Himself in more ways than one
and the state of Alabama is coming together more and more everyday!
Praise God for His Omnipitant Hand
and please pray for Tuscaloosa and the state of Alabama.
As the thunder rolls
I barely hear Your whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away
And I'll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
And every tear I've cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm
I barely hear Your whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away
And I'll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
And every tear I've cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm
Hope everyone is safe!
Can't wait to be reunited with all my ttown friends!
Love y'all!
