Girlie Girl

I don't consider myself a girlie girl
but I am defiantly not a tomboy!
So I thought I would share some of my girlie girl and tomboy favorites!

iTouch Armband
 Love this for working out!
Since I am training for my first half-marathon, my ipod is necessary and this armband makes
it super easy and I don't have to worry about dropping or holding my ipod the whole time!
Euphoria Perfume
Oh my goodness! This is MY scent! I have worn this perfume since high school
and I LOVE it!
Hopefully they won't discontinue it anytime soon!!

Merle Norman Cosmetics
My favorite brand of make-up!
Merle Norman makes the best products!
I use the mineral blush in Just Peachy and I love how this blush looks on my skin!
Since I have rather pale skin, it is really hard to find a good color but this is perfect!
I also use their eye shadows and they are awesome as well!

Nike Tempo Shorts
These shorts are a must for everyday life!
Here in the south it gets so hot and these shorts breathe and are made of pretty much
water/sweat proof material!
I have a bunch in lots of colors and I will defiantly be getting some more if this running thing takes off!

Pink Nail Polish
My newest favorite nail color is from Sally Hansen!
It is a bright springy pink called Back to the Fuscia!
I always keep my toes painted and just recently I have been inspired
by my fellow Gigi's employee LT
to keep my fingers painted too!

Had a great day at work today!
About to fall asleep to a thunderstorm
another favorite of mine!
Sweet dreams!

The Joys of Motherhood

Oh the many happies of motherhood!
As a new mother, I am beginning to realize the many responsibilites
that come with taking care of someone/something else!

Today my sweet Little Miss went to the Vet for her second round of shots!
She is so friendly and wants to play with everybody and dog in sight!
She made friends with the pug next to us and this precious old lady who had to put her dog to sleep,
that is all I am saying about that cause I about burst into tears when she was telling me!

Missy did really well getting her shots, she didn't fight or whimper at all!
She has doubled her weight since her last vist only three weeks ago
and is a whopping 16 pounds!
Hers is growing up so fast!

Last night I held our first installment of the Gigi's Supper Club!
I grilled out some chicken,
which surprisingly turned out great!
I also made my famous Hashbrown casserole,
a big hit as always!
Madeline brought some Asian coleslaw that was really good
and Virgina got us some queso from Moe's...can't go wrong with that!

We had a strict NO CUPCAKES policy,
so for desert I made my Mama's classic Chocolate Chocolate Chip Pound Cake!
I love that cake!
It is so moist and delicious!

Anywho,
we had a blast to say the least!
After stuffing ourselves,
we played a game of catchphrase!
Team Kelly brought home a win!
YEA!
Kyle and Virgina both brought their dogs to play with Missy as well!
They were so cute together!
Missy slept SO good last night, as did her mommy!
So yay for cookouts and a good nights sleep!

Overall, becoming a mom has been the best experience so far
and I know when it comes to having real children
I will be up for the challenge!

Great weekend!
Love my Gigi's friends!!

A Giving Heart

If you have not read The Five Love Languages by Dr. Gary Chapman,
drop everything and get it now!
This book is a great tool to get to know yourself and others love languages.
It focuses on the five main ways people show their love.

Words of Affirmation
Words speak louder than actions.
Quality Time
Undivided attention.
Receiving Gifts
Love, thoughtfulness and effort behind a gift.
Acts of Service
Actions speak louder than words.
Physical Touch
Just hug me.

You can take the assessment and find out what your love language is by going to this website!

Giving and receiving gifts has always meant a lot to me.
I love to think about what I am going to give someone for their birthday.

My favorite thing EVER is to give someone a little "happy" as I like to call them!
Just a little something to make their day!
There is nothing like receiving a gift for no apparent reason!
Birthdays and holidays are exciting for me because I can focus all my energy on finding
the perfect gift for someone!

Understanding how to appeal to the love languages of the people around you can
improve your relationships and truly show someone you care about them!

Monday started our new Spring menu at Gigi's!
Today I tried the S'mores cupcake and it was great!
Can't wait to try all the other new flavors!

In The Kitchen

I know during my I Am Woman post,
I talked a lot about being domestic and homely.

After spending the weekend with some new friends,
I was shocked at their jokes about women and the kitchen.

Here in the South it is a custom that the men go to work and the women take care of the household.
Even though this is similar to how I was raised,
it was never assumed that my mother could not work,
she just chose to stay at home and care for her family.
Anyways,
I though I would share some of my wants for my future house!

LOVE this cozy, bright kitchen!
This is exactly what I picture for my kitchen!
Plus a chalkboard!

Such a cute bedroom!
I want a bright and welcoming room
and these colors are perfect!

Well I'm off to clean up Missy's water bowl that she keeps tipping over
and taking a bath in....

Love At First Sight

I have never been in love.
And I cannot honestly say that I do or do not believe in love at first sight.

Except with my sweet little Missy,
I knew she was my puppy the moment I saw her,
but she is a dog and so she doesn't count!

Some people claim that it isn't love at first sight but lust.
I believe that it is a little of both sometimes.

Our generation is overstimulated and sexualized.
It is so sad to see the beauty of relationships and intimacy degraded.
I hope and pray that God protects my heart and my future husbands heart
from the destructive path lust at first sight can bring.

After watching the Bachelor this season,
(yes it is a cheesy and reality show but I think it helps teach people about relationships)
I was intrigued by the girl the Bachelor chose to propose to at the end.
The Bachelor wanted to hurry up and get married,
but the girl said that they still needed time to get to know each other,
how they communicate, fight and deal with everyday life.

I wish more people had the sense to take relationships slow.
The rate of divorce in this country is truly a tragedy
and I pray that I never have to experience the pain and disappointment of a failed marriage.

Love is such a confusing topic,
but I am confidant in one relationship
and that is with my Holy Father.
I know He will love me no matter what I do or how bad I treat Him.

One of my favorite praise songs is "I Will Not Forget You",
after you read the lyrics,
you will know why!

Many men will drink the rain
And turn to thank the clouds
Many men will hear You speak
But they will never turn around

I will not forget You are my God, my King
And with a thankful heart I bring my offering
And my sacrifice is not what You can give
But what I alone can give to you

A grateful heart I give, A thankful prayer I pray,
A wild dance I dance before you
A loud song I sing, A huge bell I ring,
A life of praise I live before You

Many men will pour their gold
And serve a thing that shines
Many men will read your words
But they will never change their minds

Maybe one day my Prince Charming will come along
and change my mind about love at first sight,
but for now...
I think I'm gonna stick with my girl Carrie Underwood on this one and say

The more boys I meet the more I love my dog!

I Am Woman

As I sit here,
blowing my nose, downing cough medicine and watching Police Women of Broward County,
I cannot help but think how blessed I am to be a woman!
Sure we have to bear children, cook, clean and take care of our men,
but there is nothing better than putting on a pair of heels and getting all decked out for a night on the town!

I love everything about being a woman!
We are beautiful, smart, caring, strong and sassy!
Sure there are times when I wish I didn't have to deal with certain womanly characteristics,
but overall, I love who I am!

And so I thought I would share some of my wants and needs as a woman!

#1. Southern Belle - Tervis Tumbler

I am SO in love with this Tervis Tumbler...well all Tervis Tumblers to be correct!
These cups are awesome!
They are virutally indestructible and do not sweat at all!
Plus they have the most adorable designs ever!
P.S. I actually already bought this one when I had to replace a top to another cup!
#2. Diamonds
As the saying goes...diamonds are a girl's best friend!
Altough I am not a huge diamond fan...I do love the gems that I have
and would not mind a nice diamond engagement ring!
This ring is so beautiful so hint hint to future hubby...whoever that might be!!!

#3. Yellow Flower Sofa Pillow
So it is official, I am moving out on my own this fall,
and Mom said I could have this gorgeous brown suede couch
that these pillows would look fabulous on!
I am pumped to decorate my apartment, which we women are especially good at doing!

#4. Kitchen Aide Stand Mixer
I have conveted this Kitchen Aide Stand Mixer for a while now!
The stainless steel is practical and I love the professional look!
Since I do a fair amount of cooking and baking,
this would be a great addition to my kitchen!

#5. Jessica Simpson Wedges
OMg these shoes scream my name!!!!!
Perfect for Spring and Summer weather and who doesn't love a wedge?
I have got to find them in a store and try them on asap!
Totally gonna head to the Coin Star and get me some cash money for these precious shoes!
AH!

#6 Chocolate Chocolate Chip Pound Cake
Mom makes the best Chocolate Chocolate Chip Pound Cake!
This cake is so good and moist!
We have switched it up a bit sometimes and used Andes Mints
and other chips and candies in the mix!
This is also super easy to make in the Kitchen Aide Mixer...

So stand up ladies and be proud to call your self a woman!

Sick As A Dog

Google has become my best friend,
and naturally I wanted to find out the origin of this phrase.
Come to find out,
it means to get physically sick from the stomach.

Well I am not that kind of sick,
but I probably have either the flu or another sinus infection!
I am so tired of getting this same gunk every couple of months!

I have been in bed ALL day
and I have no appetite whatsoever!

Poor Missy just wants to play and I have no energy to get out of bed!
Luckily I have an amazing mother
who called me saying she was on her way to Tuscaloosa
since EVERYONE is gone for Spring Break!

I am so thankful to have a mom who is willing to drop everything
to come take care of me when I am sick!

Hopefully after the next two days in bed
and my Mama's care, I will be back up and running!

Don't come visit me please!
I don't want to get anyone sick!

Love y'all!

Sweet Little Miss napping with her sick mama!

Where Are Your Manners?

This may be my Southern roots coming out,
but where have people's manners gone?
I mean did your mother not teach you the power
and courtesy of Please and Thank You?

Props to my mother for instilling in me the basics of good manners.
I would like to think I go above and beyond when it comes to interacting with people
and being pleasant and grateful.

I can totally understand if you are having the worst day of your life
and you just cannot squeak out a please or thank you,
or even have a smirk of a smile on your face,
but the majority of people have no excuse for being plain rude.

From my first job at Baskin Robbins to now at Gigi's,
I have been dealing with people for almost four years
and I can honestly say that a smile and a please and/or thank you
goes a long way!
Granted there are plenty times when I have not done my job to the best of my abilities,
not on purpose obviously,
but I try to hold my composure and treat people with respect!

As the saying goes...

Were you raised in a barn?

A smile is a little gesture that can go a long way!
Enjoy this BEAUTIFUL day!

New York City?

With all of this Spring Break talk,
I have been thinking about the many places within the United States
I want to visit!

New York City
There are so many neat and exciting things to do and see
in such a large city!
My parents promised me and Lu that we are going to spend Christmas this year
in New York!
It is going to be an trip and I cannot wait!
San Francisco
The Golden Gate Bridge has always been a fascinating landmark to me
and this city is another place I would love to explore!
The West coast is somewhere I would love to see more of!
I have only been out to Utah before and I was not a fan...I like being around water
and that place was dry and uninviting,
but unique in it's own way!
Seattle
I have wanted to visit Seattle for a while now!
It is so different from any city I have been to and I would love to just get on a plane
and be gone for a few days to spend just wandering around!
The food, coffee and other neat places I have seen and read about
are overwhelming so hopefully I can take my time and see everything!
Anchorage
Alaska is one of my top places I want to visit!
Ever since watching Sarah Palin's Alaska, I have been in love with the idea
of hiking, hunting, sailing, fishing and doing everything outdoors
that this rugged state has to offer!
The scenery and wildlife in Alaska is so intriguing to me
and I will visit the 49th state someday...hopefully soon!
Alabama
But for now I am stuck in the AWESOME and AMAZING state of Alabama!
I love this state, the people, our traditions and southern heritage!
I do not think I will ever live anywhere other than this great state and Alabama
will probably be my Sweet Home for many years to come!

Hope everyone has a safe and happy Spring Break!

Can I Get A Witness?

Last weekend while enjoying my time at home
with the family and Taylor,
a very upsetting thing happened to my little sister.
To make a long story short,
one of her friends said and did something terribly mean
which made my sweet Lulu cry at school Friday.

Saturday rolled around and Mama, Taylor and I got ready
for the Shadow Barons Mardi Gras Ball.
Lu dropped us off and went to hang out with some of her other friends.

The ball was a blast!
We had a great time dancing the night away!
After a good nights rest,
I woke up to someone crying,
it was Lindsey.
I asked her what was wrong
and she said someone slashed her tires last night
and super glued a sign with a mean name on it
to her license plate.

Ok,
first I wanted to call the police,
then I wanted to beat someone up
and lastly I wanted to publicly humiliate who ever would
even THINK about hurting my baby sister!
I do not think I have ever been that mad in my life!

Background info that we later found out:
They just let the air out of her tires, so no damage was done.
The reason they did that stuff to Lu's car was because
they THOUGHT she did something to their cars.
Needless to say...they did not have witness (hence the blog title).

I was shocked that someone would retaliate in such a way.
Really?
You have no idea who put SILLY STRING and GLITTER
on your car so you assume it was an innocent, no way involved person
so you let the air out of her tires and GLUE a sign to her car with a very mean name on it?

Now I had my fair share of drama in high school,
but this level of selfishness and lack of respect that I hear about
from my sister's experiences in public school
are sad and disheartening.

I hope that these kids realize that what they did was wrong and hurtful.
There are better ways to deal with your issues then to defile someone else's property,
especially when you have NO IDEA if that person was really involved or not.

Moral of this story:
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the Children of God.
Matthew 5:9

I am SO proud of my little sister for the way she reacted to these hateful actions.
She has handled herself with grace and class
and hopefully she will set an example that people will admire and want to follow.
I love you Lulu!
I have been stuck in my apartment all day with the stomach bug...
and all Missy wants to do is play
so she sits and stares at me before barking her head off
and bringing me her ball.
Good thing Taylor brought her Maltipoo Deuce to come play for the weekend!

All By My Self

Yes ladies and gents...I am growing up!
Since my two room mates are graduating in May,
I am looking for a place of my own!
AH!
This is such a big step for me
and with my awesome job at Gigi's I am really going to be on my own!

Of course my parents are still going to support me some
because I am defiantly not ready to be completely self sufficient!
I am really excited to begin this new chapter in my life
and I know that I am ready for such a huge change!

With my growing family,
me and Missy,
we are thrilled at the chance to be on our own!
Missy is such a great companion
and I cannot wait for her grow up
and be my bestest friend ever!

Let me know if you have some apartments or houses you know
are for rent in a good area that allows pets!

It is almost Spring Break...
which means nothing to be cause I will be at Gigi's 24/7!
So come visit me!

LOVE this picture of a perfect morning!
Coffee and a blue sky!

Meet Missy

Kelly M Peacock is pleased to announce the newest addition to her family
Little Miss Princess
aka Missy
Birth date:
January 8th 2011
Gotcha Date:
March 1st 2011

So excited to introduce Missy to the world!
I got this precious puppy from one of my Gigi's employees last week
and I am OBSESSED with her!
She is the best puppy and is so much fun!

Missy made the trip to Daphne this past weekend to meet
her Mimi, Papa, Aunt Lu, Kelsey and Maddie!
Kelsey was awesome and Missy loved her!
They played so well together, it was so cute!
Maddie on the other hand
did not want anything to do with Missy
and of course Little Miss did not understand why!

Mama and Daddy loved her
and took the news that they had a grandchild rather well!
Missy is doing better and starting to sleep through the night!
Last week she would wake up every four hours and have to potty!
She loves her toys and is so lovable!

Everyone is welcome to come meet my little bundle of joy!

An Apple A Day

Keeps the Doctor away!
I have been eating SO much better and I am feeling great!
Me and Catherine did go eat at Wintzell's the other day for lunch
but that was my off day!

I love fruit and veggies so this whole eating healthy thing is right up my ally!
I wanted to share some of my favorite healthy food!

This morning I had a bowl of Special K cereal and an apple.
My favorite snack is apples and peanut butter!
Anything with peanut butter is good and it is full of protein!
I also made some homemade hummus!

I LOVE hummus!
It has so much flavor and goes great with veggies, pretzels or crackers!
Yogurt is also a great snack!
Yogurt has grown in popularity so there are lots of flavors to chose from!

I also bought some whole wheat tortillas and chicken.
Spread some hummus on the tortilla with some spinach and the grilled chicken!
OMG SO GOOD!

I have been drinking a ton of water
and trying to stay away from soft drinks and sweets!
Which is really hard since I work at a cupcake shop!
But so far so good!

Loving this beautiful weather!
